Having been with deaf and hard of hearing people for more than ten years, I have interest in their listening to non-verbal sound music and environmental sounds.

Identification of Auditory Scenes by Hearing-Impaired Persons: Listening to non-verbal sounds

With hearing-impaired students at Tsukuba University of Technology (NTUT) for years, we understand there are many hearing-impaired (HI) youth who like music. Some are eager for listening to environmental sounds with which we could perceive seasonal flavors or approaching hazards.

We have been working on the following research items with HI students.
